We are here to support and provide a voice for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people in Cheshire. Whether you are LGBT+ or you are looking for support for a friend or family member of someone who is LGBT+ you can find help, advice and friendship at Body Positive. Realising you are different from others because you are attracted to the same sex can mean you shut yourself off or try to push away those feelings. Very often this is because we believe we are somehow “not normal” or “unnatural”. Being attracted to the same sex is perfectly normal and perfectly natural. Human’s aren’t the only ones who can be LGB or Intersex either!
If you’re looking to be a part of the wider LGBT+ community why not volunteer with us and promote equality for everyone by joining in at pride events, be a guest speaker in a training event, or tell us your story through our Cheshire Cheese newsletter or online blog: the Cheese Roll.
If you have something you need to talk about speak to one of our workers. Whether it is to do with your sexuality, gender identity, sexual health or relationships we are on hand to listen and to help.
COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY
Accessing counselling can be difficult. Body Positive makes it easy giving you the opportunity to see one of our volunteer counsellors, regardless of how many sessions it takes.
The Lesbian and Bi Women’s Group runs the first and third Thursday of the month in Crewe.
The Gay and Bi Men’s Group runs on Mondays every two weeks in Crewe and once a month in Macclesfield.
The Silver Rainbows LGBT+ Over 50s Group meets regularly and is part of the wider Silver Rainbows project. Be a part of a range of activities and a thriving older LGBT+ community by checking out our dedicated Silver Rainbows website.
Social groups are safe and relaxed with free refreshments. Groups are designed to make building new friendships easy. If you have something you want to speak to a worker about our staff and volunteers are on hand to help.
Find out when your next social group is by checking out the What’s On page.
